Farmington Hills firefighters give warm coats to kids
Posted On: Jan 29, 2017
Members of the Farmington Hills Fire Department, in cooperation with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2659, participated in the third annual Operation Warm Coat Drive in December.
Firefighters headed to Lanigan Elementary School in Farmington Hills and passed out 34 coats to children identified by the school district as being from families in need. The new coats were all union made in the U.S. and were purchased with funds raised by the firefighters. Hand-knit hats and scarves donated by local resident Ruth Newman were also distributed, along with the coats.
There is still a limited supply of coats available for donation to local children. If you know of any child who may be in need of a warm coat, contact FirfFighter Stan Bailey or Fire Sgt. Bryan Hewitt at the Farmington Hills Fire Department at 248-871-2800.
